We are pleased to report that both of the elevators in the west building are up, up, up and running! Schindler Elevator technicians did a great job getting them back in service so quickly and we appreciate their hard work. They have completed some of the work on the east building elevators; however, the lack of power in that building is proving to be a challenge for the project. We are working diligently with the electricians and elevator technicians to coordinate this and will keep you updated as progress is made.
The West pool is being heated as of this past weekend and there have been many owners and guests already enjoying it! The beautiful weather we are having has made everyone really want to get out and enjoy the pool – we’ve even had some of the Winter Texans holding exercise classes during the day! Even though our meeting rooms aren't available for their usual social gatherings, they’ve been holding card games and gathering for social activities in one of the rental suites we’ve set aside for them to use during the week. They've also had some Pot Luck Dinners at the Bar B Que area and have been having lots of fun meetings at local restaurants and playing golf together. It’s so great to see our Winter Texans enjoying the property and the Island. This activity shows great progress towards "Normalcy after Ike".
The carpenters began installation of the Front Desk this week and its coming together very nicely. The carpentry crew did an outstanding job of building the custom made desk and watching them masterfully put it all together is a real treat. Seeing the front desk staff so happy about getting back to "normal" is even more exciting!
We're still working with the insurance adjusters on a mirage of issues and the list of losses continues to grow as the weeks go by. We have compiled a very detailed list of expenses and unrecoverable items for the adjusters and they are working on organizing it in "insurance presentation" form. We most likely won't have any concrete information regarding the status of the insurance claim for several months, but rest assured, we are working diligently to finalize it. As is the case with so many people and businesses on the Island, we have yet to receive any substantial funding from the insurance companies and we are relying on our insurance adjusters to work with us to resolve the claim expediently.
