East Beach Grand Re-Opening May 25th
The Buzz 94.5 FM will kick off the Grand Opening of East Beach on May 25th with 5 local area bands on the Bud Light Stage from 2p-8p. The end of the night will feature a fireworks show presented by the Galveston Park Board.

Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup September 28th
Due to tide patterns in the Gulf of Mexico, trash dumped anywhere in the gulf is likely to end up on a Texas beach. Volunteers record information such as the source and type of debris collected on data cards provided by Ocean Conservancy. This data has been instrumental in the passage of international treaties and laws aimed at reducing the amount of offshore dumping.

Harvest Moon Regatta October 17th
The race starts in front of the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier and the course is a direct sail to Port Aransas of approximately 150 miles. It should take cruising vessels 20 to 25 hours in a fair breeze. You and all of the yachting friends you can round up are invited! Harvest Moon Regatta is an open regatta and there is plenty of room for 200+ yachts.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Be it decreed that all lords, ladies and children shall come and celebrate the 39th Annual Dickens on The Strand, a holiday festival, where bobbies, Beefeaters and the Queen herself will be on hand to recreate the Victorian London of Charles Dickens. Characters from Dickens novels walk the street. Food and entertainment fill the area with sights and smells that take you back to another era.

Ocean Star Family Day "Put the Poly in Polymer" December 14th
"Put the Poly in Polymer": Tiny molecules strung in long repeating chains form polymers. The materials commonly called plastics are called synthetic plastics. Create a model of a simple carbon chain, ethane, using green and red construction paper. Use red construction paper for the carbon and green for the hydrogen.
